When I first met Josh and Abbe, via video chat to discuss wedding photography, I immediately connected with this sweet couple and literally counted down the ways to their March wedding day. Abbe and I bonded over our mutual love (obsession!) with Southern Weddings Magazine and our admiration for Lara Casey and her team. Come to find out, the Southern Weddings Magazine is printed in Abbe’s hometown, Burlington Wisconsin. Which is a small world!
Josh and Abbe shared their desire for their wedding to be an elegant, black tie event for their families and guests to enjoy. Josh is a producer with Erwin Brothers Entertainment, so they wanted to incorporate a receiving line/photo booth all rolled into a red carpet. It is the best idea that I have seen for the couple to get a picture with each of their guests, and also a great way to greet them and welcome them to their reception. Another brilliant idea was for them to have a silhouette artist come and have guests sit for their silhouette to be hand cut by the artist. I could have watched the artist trim away with her tiny scissors all evening! The talent it takes to look at a profile and then hand trim a perfect silhouette is amazing!
Abbe shared with me that she wanted a few very traditional things to be included in their day, such as the blusher. Obsessed. Not very many brides use a blusher these days, but Abbe really wanted a long veil with the blusher. The images of her dad putting the blusher over her head as he gave her away are some of my favorites. Such a special, Father Daughter moment. Another element was Abbe’s dress. Ordered from BHLDN, they tailored the top half of the dress to fit Abbe perfectly. Adding 3 lace flowers, from her Mother in-laws wedding dress, stitched in with blue thread to her left sleeve. At the reception, Abbe wore a belt that was from her Mother’s wedding dress, monogrammed with Abbe and Josh’s initials. Paired with her floral, Ted Baker, heels….Abbe was a breathtaking bride! And Josh, with his tux and bow tie, wild socks, and a boutonniere pinned with a locket from Abbe, made a handsome Groom. Together, a stunning couple!
I share with you all of the details, but really, what I most loved about this wedding was Josh and Abbe. These two have magnetic personalities and you can’t help but just want to sit down, have coffee with them and chat for hours as if we were long lost best friends. You could tell by the way that they interacted with their family and friends that they have put such an investment in the lives of those surrounding them.
When the ceremony was over, Josh and Abbe decided to immediately exit the church and head to Black Point Estate on Lake Geneva. A place that is special to Abbe, as she has spent countless hours volunteering there, but special to both of them now because that is where Josh proposed. I couldn’t help but just stand back with my camera in hand, watching these two whisper to each other, excited, happy, kissing, so ecstatic that they just became husband and wife. Such happiness!
I am excited to see where life takes these two! I know they have great adventures awaiting them!
Many thanks to Jenna, who came in from Texas to Coordinate the day for Abbe and Josh – Elegant Events
