If I were to count up how many friends weddings I have photographed, I couldn’t even begin to tell you! I have traveled the globe for friends, landing in some of the most exotic places for weddings. One of which is the Brasada Ranch in Oregon. It is such a unique and rustic location.
I consider it an honor when a friend asks me to capture their day. Most friends that ask, have seen me start my photography career and have cheered me along the way. Jana is no exception. We met almost a decade ago, bonding over the little kids we were nannies for and her little puppy, Puma. I took some outrageous photos of that dog, accompanied by an over the top slideshow, which sealed the fate of our friendship forever.
I spent countless nights sleeping on her couch in her one bedroom apartment on The Hill in DC. I’ve met all of her friends, photographed a lot of them, been a part of numerous work projects and can always count on her to send me the most ridiculous photos of the “latest photography trends” going around.
I’ve been waiting for years for her wedding day to arrive. When I first starting hearing about this Matt guy, I didn’t think a lot about it…until I kept hearing more and more about him. He seemed like a chill guy, willing and able to put up with Jana shenanigans. When I first met him, we were running around like crazy, preparing for a work gala for Jana. Once I saw him in action, and how wonderful he was to Jana, I knew he would be sticking around.
I love how ridiculous they can be together, and they just don’t take life too seriously. Which I think is so important in every relationship. They balance each other out so well and I love seeing them so happy together.
The wedding week was a big event, with everyone arriving at Brasada Ranch in Bend, Oregon a few days before the big day. We went horseback riding, sipped drinks poolside, had the most epic “Hen and Stag” night, stayed in the most beautiful cabins and just enjoyed spending time with these two. I am so glad that Jana asked me to photograph her wedding, knowing I don’t make a very good guest! I was happy to capture these memories for them and all of the craziness that went with it! They truly were surrounded by such a wonderful group of friends that traveled from far far away to be with them.
Cheers Jana and Matt! A lifetime of happiness to you both, much love from Jamie and I!
