Last Friday, as I sat in the dimly lit sanctuary of Duke Chapel, I listened to the thunder clap outside and the rain pour down and batter the stained glass windows. I was watching intently as Lindsay and Oussama went through the rehearsal for their wedding, to happen the following day. I whispered a quick prayer for the weather to improve for the wedding day, and we all could only hope that the huge storm would blow over in the night, and that wedding day would dawn clear and bright. Clear and bright it was! One could not have asked for a more gorgeous, Spring wedding day in Durham North Carolina.
After a quick champagne toast by the bridesmaids at Lindsay’s parents house, we were off to the Chapel! We only had one minor hiccup, as the limo did not show to pick everyone up…but Lindsay and her mom rallied everyone together, came up with a plan and overcame the obstacle. I was amazed at Lindsay’s reaction to the slight change in plans, and she was so calm and relaxed!
I love how organized the staff is at Duke Chapel, everything moves quickly and efficiently. The ceremony started right on time, and it was so sweet to watch Oussama as Lindsay walked towards him down the aisle. Tears and smiles were on many faces that greeted Lindsay and her Dad as they approached the alter. The ceremony was beautiful and touching, with the officiant touching on endearing moments of Lindsay and Oussama’s lives together. I love the laughter that was a part of the ceremony, very appropriate for who Lindsay and Oussama are.
After hugs and kisses, more tears and laughter after the recessional, we moved on to family portraits, followed by bridal party portraits and ending with beautiful sunset light for Lindsay and Oussama’s pictures. I couldn’t stop snapping, the light was just breathtaking!!
We arrived at The Pavillions at the Angus Barn for a twinkling, perfectly hosted Southern Reception. I truly love the staff at The Pavillions, they are organized, efficient and sweet as can be! They are looking out to make sure everyone is enjoying the party, and doing everything they can to make the evening go smoothly.
Everyone enjoyed drinks on the patio, then moved to the softly lit reception. First Dances, funny and touching toasts, delicious food…and the dancing started! Once the dance floor was open, it stayed full for the rest of the reception! I kept looking at Mitch (from Joe Bunn Co) and saying “how awesome is this?!!! They just keep going!”. I love it when the dance floor is full, the sign of a great party.
Many thanks to my dear friend, and wonderful second photographer for the day, Elizabeth from Sweet Life Studios.
