Arwyn & Dave | Raleigh Wedding Photographer

Arwyn has been a good friend over the years, we used to work together in Chicago and have kept in touch as life moved her to the west coast and me to the east coast. Last year, she headed out on a cross country trip, visiting friends along the way and ultimately ending up in Tallahassee where her family lives. On that trip, she stopped to visit Jamie and I for a few days. It is always good to catch up with friends, and stay in touch no matter where life takes them.
So when I heard that she had met this wonderful guy, and kept seeing pictures on facebook of the flowers this guy Dave kept sending her (trust me, there were a lot of bouquets sent her way!) I knew something serious was going on. Sure enough, an e-mail came my way telling of their engagement and asking if I could photograph their wedding in Tallahassee. Yay!

It is not often that I photograph two weddings in one weekend, and even more rare is it that I photograph two weddings that are in separate states in one weekend. But after photographing Megan and Lin’s gorgeous wedding here in Raleigh on September 11th, I had a bright and early flight to Tallahassee on Sunday the 12th. We were praying so hard that the thunderstorms that had moved over Raleigh would clear by the time I needed to fly, and everything went smoothly. Thankfully. Although, I think I stressed and worried about it enough in the weeks leading up to the weddings, that God knew I couldn’t handle any more stress during that weekend!

Arwyn and Dave had a beautiful day, sprinkled with a few Florida rain showers (typical!) and I could totally see Arwyn’s personality woven into the details of the day (Dave’s too, I am sure, but I know Arwyn a little better). She being the amazingly talented person that she is, handcrafted her own dress. Yes, she is a master seamstress, and I love seeing every project she puts her hands to. Dave married one very talented girl. Her dress was made so that after the ceremony, and the reception started, the bottom half of the dress detached and she had a sexy party dress, it was awesome!!

The wedding was held at the home of Arywn’s family. Everyone worked so hard to get everything ready for this day, the food was amazing, the lights that were strung, the tents that were put up, the arbor that was assembled and already had greenery growing and covering it, the candles that lit everything….It was a dreamy night.

It was good to be in Florida, even if it was just for 24 hours. I was happy to witness Dave and Arwyn join their lives together, and I wish them many happy years ahead!!! And one day, Jamie and I will visit them in California!
