Chris and Kim | Raleigh Wedding Photographer

The 24th of July turned out to be one of the hottest days thus far in 2010…and humid! 100 degrees, with a heat index of 114. Yes, just a little hot! But Chris and Kim were so excited that their big day had arrived, I don’t think they really noticed the heat! Throughout the whole day, both were such troopers, as was the bridal party. I don’t think I heard one of them complain about the heat, or the pictures being done outside!

They had a beautiful ceremony at Chapel Hill Bible Church (hooray for air conditioning!), I loved all of the beautiful flowers that Tre Bella Florist arranged for the occasion. They did a wonderful job, and the flowers held up well in the heat!

After the ceremony we headed to UNC Chapel Hill for pictures on the campus. I love that campus. Earlier this year, I took Chris and Kim’s engagement photos there and I have been back since for engagement sessions and meetings.

We had to fight a vast number of people off for pictures at the Old Well (a few untraditional ones of course). We also stopped at the Davie Poplar tree, which grows next to a cement bench that legend says…if you kiss the person you love on that bench, you will marry that person. Pretty sure I have pictures of them kissing on that bench from their engagement session…and now a cute picture of them on their wedding day. So glad that legend is true :)
I know everyone was dripping from the heat, and I am glad they were staying hydrated, because thankfully no one passed out from the heat! And we successfully made it to La Residence in Chapel Hill, where the reception was being held.

A big shout out to the Chef’s and Staff at La Residence, the Southern food they served was phenomenal and the staff very gracious and attentive. Seriously, their macaroni and cheese was the best I have ever had, the pulled pork was seasoned perfectly, and the bbq chicken to melted in your mouth (do I sound like Gordon Ramsey off of Hell’s kitchen now?!!! haha!!) I am becoming a food critic :)
The reception was held indoors, and out on their Patio. Despite the heat index, Allen from Island Sound kept the dance floor FULL!! Wooooo!!!! Everyone had a fabulous time, and yes, I will admit that by the end of the night I was ready to kick off my shoes and join in the dancing. He had some great tunes playing!

Congratulations Chris and Kim!! Despite the heat, you had a beautiful, unforgettable day!!!
