Snowed in! | Cary NC Photographer

For days, the weathermen have been forecasting snow/rain/ice in the Raleigh area. Yesterday, it was all over the news, and you could just feel the anxiety rising with the threat of bad weather. I was shocked when the newscaster said “People are urged not to call 911 or the Highway Patrol for road conditions” Who calls 911 for road conditions??!!!!!!! Never in my life…

All of the hype got to me. I just had to go and witness the madness myself. So I headed off to super walmart yesterday afternoon, and was quite entertained by the overflowing shopping carts, people scurrying about making sure they had all of the necessary supplies. Milk, bread and eggs. But of course add to that enough canned goods to last until spring, snow storm or not, and plenty of other non perishable items to keep an army fed through the storm. Being from Chicago, I’d never seen a rush on walmart quite like this, just because there was a threat of a 1-2 inches of snow and ice on the way…
I didn’t mind the long lines, as I was entertained by the mad rush going on around me. I stood in line with peanut m&m’s and trix. And of course chips and dip, because who can be snowed in without chips and dip???

Jamie and I settled in for a nice cozy evening, and were actually pleasantly surprised when snow started accumulating on our vehicles and driveway. With the promise of taking pictures of our winter wonderland in the morning, we snuggled in for a long movie and a good nights sleep.

So…just a few pictures of our winter wonderland. And no laughing to my friends up north, this snow is serious business. I think we will be snowbound until Monday or Tuesday!
